Basket Stretchers

There are times when an ordinary stretcher does not offer the right level of support or protection for the patient. Situations such as a mountain rescue or even removing an injured player from a sports field may include moving the stretcher over uneven ground. Basket stretchers are ideal for this, for the curved sides offer additional protection for the patient when in transit.  Basket stretchers are suitable for a number of different rescue scenarios. A normal stretcher is ideal in a smooth-terrain, straight-forward rescue situation. But given the fact someone needs rescuing, things hardly ever going to plan. When attempting a rescue in a rough terrain - mountains, for example - the equipment has to withstand the journey and ensure the patient is protected on the return journey. This is where basket stretchers come into their own. With curved sides and a secure build, basket stretchers protect the patient from the uneven ground when they are being moved.

Basket stretchers are suitable for a vast range of rescues, from mountaineering to removing an injured player from a sports field. Any situation where the stretcher will be pulled along the ground requires the patient to have an extra layer of protection. There may even be occasions where it is required to protect the rescuer as well!

Although a vast range of basket stretchers exist, they all are robustly built and designed to withstand the pressure of the harsh conditions they are working in. Basket stretchers have curved sides and straps to ensure the patient remains safe and in place when being transported, while the base of the stretcher is designed to protect them from the uneven ground. The stretcher is designed to ensure injuries are not further aggravated by the movement  of the stretcher. Still, it is important to explore the range to find the basket stretcher that is most suited for your needs.
