Evacuation Sledges

Operated by two people and suitable for a range of different floor surfaces and stairwells, evacuation sledges are an ideal alternative to evacuation chairs. Evacuation sledges allow a person to be transported either within a building or down stairs in an emergency. An evacuation sledge is easy to store and quick to access. The user is held securely in place through the use of straps and a foot pocket. If you require further information, please contact our support team on 020 7720 2266.

Evacuation sledges are an ideal alternative to evacuation chairs. Operated by one or two people depending on the location and the weight in the sledge, they can transfer a patient either in a horizontal position while inside the building or be used in a stairwell. The patient is secured by a number of straps and a foot pillow to ensure they are safe and cannot slide out when they are being transported. Handles at both ends of the sledge means an operator can take either end.

Evacuation sledges are easily stored and quick to access in the event of an emergency. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 means there must be an evacuation plan in place of an emergency occurs, and that people must be fully trained on using the evacuation equipment. There must be an effective plan in place for evacuation regardless of whether you have full mobility, are disabled, injured or pregnant.

Evacuation sledges are more diverse than evacuation chairs due to the way they are suitable for spiral staircases and enclosed spaces. They can slide over carpet, tiles and other common floor materials, constructed in such a way the patient is kept comfortable and secure rather than feeling any of the bumps along the way.

There are a number of different evacuation sledges available here on Evacuation Chair Shop, suitable for different users and different environments. If you require further information about evacuation sledges, please contact our support team on 020 7720 2266.
